  • *Taize' service a features unique style of worship music that reflects meditative nature  of the community. Taize music emphasizes simple phrases, usually lines from Psalms or other pieces of Scripture, repeated and sometimes also sung in canon. The repetition is intended to aid mediation and prayer.  Here at Saint Ann's Episcopal Church, we provide a Taize-style service to encourage people to slow down and experience God's presence as they worship and in their lives every day.

ACOLYTES / EMS / LECTORS

Picture
Acolytes
"Acolyte" comes from the Greek meaning "following, attending on." Acolytes assist in the setting of the altar for the Eucharist and carry torches in the gospel procession.
Eucharistic Ministers (EMs)
Eucharistic serve as chalice bearers at Eucharist. They distribute the blood of Christ to the congregation. At St Ann's, they also lead the congregation in the prayers of the people and in the reciting of the psalms (in the absence of a cantor).
Crucifers bear the Cross into and out of the church for the liturgy, hold the gospel book during the proclamation, and ring the sanctus bells during the Eucharistic prayer.
Lectors
Lectors read the Old Testament and New Testament scriptures during the ministry of the Word.

ALTAR GUILD

Picture
The Altar Guild is a dedicated group of volunteers who serve the parish and God in liturgy and worship. They prepare the altar at St. Ann's for scheduled week day, Saturday evening and Sunday services as well as baptisms, weddings, funerals, Holy Days and special services. They also have brass polishers and twice a year they polish the silver.

Contacts are Linda Munkelwitz 664-8996 or Barbara Stahlberg 589-2302
